FEIRA DO MIRTILO

Decorreu no passado fim de semana (28 a 30 de Junho), a Feira de Mirtilo de Sever do Vouga, que visa divulgar os benefícios do fruto muito cultivado na região. Este evento investe ainda na divulgação do comércio e gastronomia da região, bem como nos produtos que são feitos com mirtilo: chá, compotas, licores, pão, bolos, cremes de beleza, etc.

Saímos de manhã e fomos em direção à Cascata da Cabreia, que fica em Silva Escura (bem perto de Sever) e que presenteia os locais com uma bonita queda de água. O dia estava tão quente, que a pequena caminhada até à cascata fez-se difícil, mas ao chegar lá abaixo fomos recebidos com uma brisa fresca...o sítio ideal para um piquenique.

Depois do almoço, fomos até à Feira que decorre no Parque da Cidade. Tínhamo-nos inscrito num percurso pedestre que passa pelos campos de cultivo de mirtilo. Uma ótima oportunidade para conhecer melhor a região.
De volta ao centro de Sever, foi altura de conhecer as bancas de comércio com os vários produtos da região. Além de produtos confecionados com mirtilo encontra ainda outras frutas: framboesas, morangos ou amoras. Encontra ainda bancas onde são vendidas várias árvores (bagas ou não) ou vasos de ervas aromáticas. Ainda na feira tem a oportunidade de visitar uma tenda onde vários chef's são convidados a confecionar e apresentar receitas onde o mirtilo é utilizado. Este ano presenciei o showcooking de Justa Nobre.

Blueberry Fair 2013-Sever do Vouga

In the weekend of 28-30 July took place the Blueberry Annual Fair in Sever do Vouga, which aims to promote the benefits of the fruit widely grown in the region. This event also invests in the dissemination of trade and gastronomy of the region as well as the products that are made with blueberries: tea, jams, liqueurs, bread, cakes, beauty creams, etc..
We left in the morning and headed towards to the Cascade of Cabreia, which is in Silva Escura (right near Sever) and presents the location with a beautiful waterfall. The day was so hot, that the short walk to the waterfall became very difficult, but once we got down there we were greeted with a cool breeze ... the ideal place for a picnic.
After lunch, we went to the fair, which takes place in th City Park. The fair organized a pedestrian path that passes through the blueberry fields. A great opportunity to get to know the area better.

Back to the center of Sever, it was time to meet the trade stalls with the various products iof the region. Besides products made with blueberry you'll find other fruits: raspberries, strawberries or blackberries.

At the Fair there's a tent where several chef's are invited to present and cook recipes where the blueberrie's are used. This year I had the opportunity to see the showcooking of Justa Nobre.
